probably my favorite foo fighters song is "new way home". the song goes from calm and happy go lucky into a ruthless rock out. but i could never understand the lyrics...
I felt like this on my way home I'm not scared something something
the something something turned out to be i pass the boats and the Kingdome
what a complete let down.
some random notes:
lakers are out of the playoffs.:-(
went to fannypackattack's wedding. i had a really good time, saw a few peeps i hadn't seen in a while, and it was all a very nice evening.
first week at AK was very cool. i'm one of 7 summer hires out there weed wacking and such. we all know each other from last year, and we have a pretty good time. last week was the first time i had worked more than 20 hours in a week for quite a long time. plus i'm still at the photo lab...so i'm kinda busy.
going to attempt to finish up my room. SPATER! JA!!11

i have to admit i picked the blazers to win the series. not the most intelligent pick, but i defend it because i figure a rough and tough team like the blazers could get inside the heads of a soft team like the kings or mavs.
up until a couple days ago i was feeling pretty stupid, but stranger things have happened.
like the mavs blowing a 30 point lead to the lakers!!!
i might be biased, but early indications show that this is definately going to be the best playoffs in a LONG time.
whats everyone's favorite playoff year? personally, all the years seem to blend together. the nuggets beating the sonics was one of the greatest things i've ever seen. most any bulls knicks series...with or with out jordan, was incredible. blazers/lakers a few years back was a true classic. it might have been the straw that broke the camel's back for the blazers, they've been fucked in the head since.

finals are coming to an end, and i'm going to be moving into my new place this weekend.
its been an interesting year. i've had a lot of fun, struggled a lot with school and other issues. usually what i like to do at times of transition, is look back a year, and ask where i'm at in relation to then. i really think this was a year of improvement. i'm not where i want to be as a person yet, but i'm a hell of a lot closer than i was a year ago.
has anyone ever said it better than bob dylan in this classic line? of course not, don't be silly! "tryin to make some sense of it all but i can see it makes no sense at all"

6:43 pm - third times a charm
|
tonight will be the final game of michael jordan's career. as a side note, this is his third (and dare i say final) retirement. even though he's old now, i still get excited to see him play. it's kind of a sad and happy day at the same time. i consider myself lucky living in a time where i could watch him play as much as i have.

had an incredible time in canada. i can't remember the last time i had so much fun.
it was dan combs and ben lykins first times time there. me ben and D showed em that there is plenty of fun to be had north of the border.
some highlights were the sushi (as usual), dan's fun with a mustang, and ben winning close to $200 gambling.
to top it off, tonight i got a nice surprise.
too bad the grind starts back up tomorrow morning at 9am. BOO.

so the sound on my computer is broke again. WHAT THE HELL.
over break so far, I've worked a lot at the ol photo lab, and played some basketball. the fun part starts tomorrow around 6pm. WE'RE LEAVING FOR CANADA. stoked about that.
last night was a great time. played texas hold 'em from 7:45pm to 2 am. had a really good time shootin the shit with a new crowd. then hung out with this girl I met there for a while. shes hella-cool. but I found out something funny. the only girls I talk to are girls that don't get along with ben. ben might want you to think its because they all have a common personality trait, but I think it has more to do with him wishing he could have me to himself. sorry ben, you can't touch the mango.
well hopefully I've quenched everyone's thirst for knowledge about my life. spater.

6:18 pm - fred carter...
|
The worst opening-season gambit in the history of the NBA was presented by Roy Rubin, the spectacularly inept coach of the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers. Facing his players for the first time, Rubin presented himself as a tough disciplinarian and said he'd accept no excuses for any infractions of the rules. The players would have a strict dress code for road trips. No exceptions. There'd be no beer in the locker room. No exceptions. There'd be no smoking in the locker room. No exceptions.
Then Freddie "Mad Dog" Carter raised his hand and said, "But, coach, I've been smoking in the locker room ever since I've been in the league. That's the only way I can calm down and get ready to play."
Rubin didn't blink. "OK," he said. "You can smoke, Freddie, but you're the only one."
In a flash, the rest of the players realized that Rubin didn't have a clue.
Dubbed "Poor Roy" by the local media, Rubin was fired when the team's record sank to a dismal 4 and 47. The Sixers finished the season at 9-73, a low-water mark that will not likely be matched in the foreseeable future.

11:24 am - an epic of sorts

so i buy a $100 cordless keyboard/mouse set at best buy...with a $40 mail in rebate. I bought it on the 21st...then on the 23rd...i realize that i had to have the rebate post marked by the 22nd. WHAT THE HELL.
at first, i felt sorry for myself...i think i might have cried. i ate a lot of chocolate in an attempt to chase off my new found depression. then i got a brilliant idea in my jaded state. take the stupid keyboard back, and find it cheaper else where. so i look up a similar keyboard/mouse set on line...and find it for $49, no stupid mail in rebate to hassle with either!!
TAKE THAT YOU STUPID BEST BUY SWINE WHORES!!!1

so i think most people have songs that make you sad, but at the same time it brings back good memories/feelings.
out of curiosity, what are some people's songs that give you that feeling.
off the top of my head, i'm thinking "mrs. potter" by the counting crows, "comfortable" by john mayer, and "come by me" by harry connick jr.
